Southern Thunder 2009

HARA is hosting the Southern Thunder 2009 launch in Manchester, TN on June 20/21. I’m looking forward to this launch because I’ll be able to pick up some motors to use at future launches which I haven’t been able to do until now. With the recent ruling ending in complete victory for rocketeers everywhere, NAR and Tripoli certified rocketeers can obtain rocket motors without having to obtain a Low Explosives Permit from the ATF. In the past, without that permit, you had to use any motors you purchased at the launch you purchased the motors at, which limited the number of launches I would attend. But now that I can take motors with me to launches, and not depend on the availability of motor vendors to be present, this substantially increases the number of launches I will contemplate attending.
I am Level 2 certified and am currently building a seven foot tall PML Eclipse that should reach an altitude over a mile high. You can check out my rocketry page for some pics and videos of my past launches. If you live in the Atlanta area, I highly recommend attending a SOAR launch. Thanks to Chris over at CSRocketry for hooking me up with motors.
My Sager NP9262 from XoticPC

A lot of people ask me about my laptop. I think it’s because it’s weighs over 15 pounds with power supply (and I only weigh 120 lbs). It’s easily the best toy I’ve ever purchased, which says a lot considering my other toys include an 8 foot rocket that goes 7500 ft. It’s a Sager NP9262 from XoticPC. With 1920×1200 resolution, 3 internal hard drives, and a WinMark 3D score over 10,000, it’s portable performance at it’s best. I can run Crysis on “Very High” and run 5 copies of WOW at 60 FPS each. I just wish I’d went with 8 GB of RAM and the Blu-Ray burner as well.
